How do you want to be remembered?
What do you want your legacy to be?
Taking the time to consider these questions is a great start. These are questions that we should all ask ourselves on a regular basis. The answers to these questions can help guide us on our path to success.
A personal vision statement is a great way to define your goals and aspirations, and it can provide inspiration and motivation when times get tough. In this blog post, we will discuss how to create a personal vision statement that will help you achieve your dreams!
Your personal vision statement can also help you to make choices about what you do and don’t want in your life, and motivate and inspire you to achieve your goals.
Creating a personal vision statement is not as difficult as it may seem. Here are five steps to help you create your own personal vision statement:
1. Define Your Values
What is important to you? What do you believe in? Your values are what guide you in your life and can be a great starting point for creating your personal vision statement.
2. Consider Your Aspirations
What do you want to achieve in your life? Do you want to make a difference in the world? Do you want to be successful in your career? Consider what you aspire to achieve and let that guide your personal vision statement.
3. Set Your Goals
What are your long-term and short-term goals? Be specific about what you want to achieve. Having specific goals will help you to create a personal vision statement that is realistic and achievable.
Remember the acronym, S.M.A.R.T.
S Specific
M Measurable
A Achievable
R Realistic
T Timebound
4. Write It Down
Writing down your personal vision statement is an important step. This will help to make it more real and can serve as a reminder of what you are working towards.
You can even make it look fantastic, add images and then print and laminate it to serve as a reminder on your desk as you take your actions towards your vision.
5. Review and Adjust
Your personal vision statement is not set in stone. As you achieve your goals and as your life changes, you may need to adjust your personal vision statement. Review it regularly and make sure that it still reflects your real desires and values.
I do this at least annually, to check in and ensure there is still alignment and congruence, that my vision still resonates with me and fits my wishes and desires for my life and legacy.
